Clay McNear

Clay has been a professional writer since 1984, specializing in music, sports, arts and pop culture. He has worked as a music critic, section editor and blogger for various alternative newsweeklies, including Dallas Observer, Houston Press and Phoenix New Times. Additionally, he was a professional copy editor for five years and a full-time dad for 10. Awards include two first-place and two seconds in the annual Arizona Press Club competition. Clay lives with his wife and two children in Phoenix and is currently working on a book about growing up in Texas in the 1960s.
